MR 2004 Diary

6/5/04
Yesterday we arrived at Split Rock Resort around five o'clock. It's a lot betterthan Friar Tuck last year. It's huge, too. The Galleria is where all the convention stuff is happening. They have their own little movie theater, too. We ate dinner at the Dinner Buffet (Buffet, get it?) then watched "Shrek 2" at the theater. It was cute and funny; better than the first, I think. Then Chardee and I played games in the arcade/game room. We played foosball, air hockey (which ROCKS!), pinball, some dancing game we couldn't figure out, and a car game. It was really sad, I didn't even get past the start line. I hope real driving isn't that hard.
Then it took us forever to find our room in the dark. We had to drive there, and you have to take a road off the main road and there's no signs so it's crazy. We're in Willowbrook.
Today should be jam-packed with fun! :)

Later...
I got my picture taken with James Marsters. Hee. He shook my hand and looked me right in the eyes when we said hello's and how are you's. Guh, amazing eyes. And his hair has grown out; it looks nice. He sat on a stool and I stood next to him. We put our arms around each other and my head against his. I really hope it turned out well. I can't wait to see it! It'll probably be a month or two, though.
Then I joined my mom and Chardee at the charity auction. James Leary was doing it. They auctioned off his ass, basically. Two women got to grab his butt and get a hug and lick from him. They payed $400 each for that! Plus one of them was the same that bought a groping of Tony Head's ass last year.
There was an Angel panel, which was supposed to be Andy Hallet and Stephanie Romanov, but it was only Stephanie because Andy couldn't come. He has a heart infecton and is in the hospital. :( So we skipped that and went later to the Buffy panel. Adam Busch, Tom Lenk, Danny Strong, Iyari Limon, and James Leary were there. Danny is kinda full of himself, but everyone else was nice. (Well, Adam was cranky or uncomfortable or something, but he was nice afterwards.) Then Chardee and I got autographs. Tom is so adorable! And sweet. I had the Trio sign the same picture of the three of them and Iyari sign a pic of her and Willow. I didn't have anything for Stephanie or James L. to sign so I had to skip them. JM is doing his autographs tomorrow so I'm missing out on that.
Now we're resting before the concerts tonight.

The Common Rotation concert last night was awesome! Adam is SUCH a great performer. At first, the sound system was going wonky and it made a noise like a gunshot. Adam had just sung a line dissing Ronald Reagan. He fell over and Eric rushed to his side. Then when Adam got up he said, "I'm sorry I made fun of Reagan, but please don't shoot me!" Brilliant improv artists, I tell ya! ;) Also, in "True Hollywood Romance" they put Andy Hallet in the improved "all dressed up in drag" line. Nice tribute.. um, I guess. Hehe. So yeah, Chardee and I got pretty close to them. I wish I could go to CoRo concerts all the time. They kept handing out John Kerry stickers and urging us to vote. They did a slow version of "Oklahoma", which was interesting. They sound so much better live. Ghost of the Robot sound so much better on their CDs, though. I bought their new demo. It has five songs. One is like crap.. it's not even a song, just talking. Then another is them rapping (but they're mocking rap... I think), which is just strange. But the other three are okay. I like their old songs from Mad Brilliant better, though.
It sucked SO much because we were in the front, right next to the stage. I would have been able to get great shots of James. Then Aria told us to all sit in our seats. So everyone did. Then Aria let some select people get up in front (to act as a human shield, we found out.) Of course everyone ran up again because it's not fair to only let some people go up. We were in the front row and we couldn't see because everyone was standing in front of us. My mom talked to a security guard and he said they couldn't do anything about it because Moonlight Rising hadn't hired any cops, which he thought was crazy. Aria went back up and told people to sit down or GotR wouldn't play (which of course wasn't true, as everyone knew.) Some people sat, but a lot still remained. She even got James Leary to ask them to sit. Didn't work. I think if James Marsters had asked it would have worked, but he's too nice for that. So they had to give up. It was really unfair because the people who were doing the right thing by biding the rules lost out on their good positions by the band, when we had been standing there waiting for a long time. Aria shouldn't have let anyone go up and then maybe it wouldn't have happened. But you can't make exceptions like that.
At first we went and stood in the back so we could see, but it sucked beause the whole point was to be right up by James' lovely bod. Plus, a rock concert is bad from that far away from the action and the crowd of people. My mom couldn't take the loud music, so she left. Chardee and I managed to squeeze our way in a little, towards the back of the mass of people. James was being very good about sexily sucking his lollipop rather than smoking the cigarettes the rest of his bandmates were passing amongst each other. They're all so young. It must be weird for them that the girls their age rather get with the 41-year-old than them. I like sweet, thoughtgul, looking in my eyes James better than rock star James, although he does act really silly on stage.
All in all, it wasa fun night. We got to bed past midnight and had to wake up at seven to go to our ECA reading. I was SO tired. But the reading went fine. The convention was great. The only thing I would have liked to do is go to James Marsters' Q&A today, but I saw it last year, so it's okay. I really hope my photo came out well! The resort was much nicer and, for the most part, the con was better organized. The photo shoot with JM and the CoRo concert were my favorite parts. Another successful convention!
